The 3rd Annual Plenary Conference of the SMI was hosted by the Department of Music, University College Cork, on 6-8 May 2005.
The keynote speaker was Professor Lawrence Kramer (Fordham University), whose lecture was entitled 'Musical Runes, Musical Ruins: On Hearing History’.
