Plenary conference, 27-30 May 2021

The most recent Annual Plenary Conference of the Society for Musicology in Ireland (SMI) was held jointly with the Irish Chapter of the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM Ireland) on 27–30 May 2021, hosted by the Department of Music, Trinity College Dublin, and held online owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the conference, the IRC-SMI Harrison Medal for 2021 was awarded to Professor Michael Beckerman (Carroll and Milton Petrie Professor of Music, Collegiate Professor of Music, New York University), who delivered the IRC-Harrison Lecture. ICTM-Ireland’s inaugural Oirdhearchas Award was presented to Professor Thérèse Smith (University College Dublin), who gave a plenary lecture. A joint SMI-ICTM Plenary Lecture was delivered by Professor Harry White (University College Dublin), inaugural President of the Society for Musicology in Ireland (2003-2006).
