The 21st annual plenary conference of the Society for Musicology in Ireland (SMI) took place on 8-10 June 2023, hosted by TU Dublin Conservatoire at its Grangegorman campus. The keynote paper was given by Professor Elaine Kelly (University of Edinburgh): Musical Contact Zones of International Socialism: East Germany and the Postcolonial World.
The first day of the conference coincided with a symposium hosted by TU Dublin Conservatoire held in conjunction with the Irish Research Council, the Irish Traditional Music Archive and the Princess Grace Irish Library. The symposium – ‘Irish-American Music Cultures’ – ran in parallel to the conference sessions, with all papers and concerts open to SMI delegates.
The programme for both the conference and the symposium is available here.
